Why is damp a problem?

Why is damp a problem?

The development of damp within a property can cause major issues. As well as structural damage and fungi, it can also reduce levels of health and wellbeing for those living in or using the building, especially people with respiratory conditions such as asthma. When left unchecked, damp will continue to worsen and spread further within the structure, resulting in a confined patch growing into a much larger problem.

How we combat and prevent damp

How we combat and prevent damp

One of our trained surveyors will visit your property to carry out an expert diagnosis of the situation. They begin by identifying the type of damp (rising damp, penetrating damp, condensation or a combination of these), which is usually achieved through non-destructive moisture metre tests. If necessary, destructive testing and sample analysis will be required. When this is the case, the surveyor will discuss the process with you before going ahead.

What's next?

Once the cause and severity of the damp has been determined, a report will be provided that explains the next steps. This will include a comprehensive treatment to remove the existing damp and ensure that the problem doesn’t return, allowing you to use the area, structure or building to full effect.
