The project was a new build basement in central Cambridge, the Georgian front façade of the property was retained, with demolition and excavation behind.

The complexity of the basement excavation and subsequent build was compounded by the presence of Hobsons Conduit running through the site; a 17th century watercourse, which is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. One of our members, APP were appointed to design and install the waterproofing system.
The basement was mixed use, (commercial kitchen, toilets, plant room and cycle store and included a lift pit), including different grades of basement as defined by BS8102.

The chosen waterproofing included watertight concrete, cavity drain membrane with modular drainage and bespoke sump station, and cementitious slurry. Premier Guarantee were the external guarantor for the project.
